Naïma Ben Ayed grew up in Provence (FR) in a French and Tunisian family. Defining spaces in between identities and attempting to translate them into design forms and ideas is a lifelong obsession. She holds a Master in “création typographique” from Estienne school (Paris).
She has an independent practice based in London (UK) where Arabic and Latin type design and visual communication sit at the same desk. Her approach to design is telling stories with letters.
Beyond leading type workshops, she engages in the question of opening up type design pedagogy in creative ways such as an imaginary multi script type design program published on Futuress.
Naïma collaborates with Francesca Bolognini under the name La Bureau, together they make Arabic and Latin typefaces.
