'My Back Has Eyes' is as powerful a statement as it is haunting. It represents the struggle of every persecuted community and individual since the dawn of time.
Inspired by the song where the sentence originates, the aim of the piece is to translate the grounded power and connection of women across generations. Stylistically, It is meant as a tribute to the Palestinian cross-stitching patterns and technique, a painstaking craft prominent among Palestinian women.
This piece is dedicated to every person who has felt the need to grow eyes on their back to protect themselves.
